Childrens Programs

The Lake County Recreation Department offers year-round sports, activities, and events for children. These programs are designed to expose children to a variety of recreational activities in a supervised and safe environment. Our focus is on teamwork, sportsmanship, skill development, self-esteem and most of all, having fun! For additional children's programs not sponsored by the Recreation Department, please see our Recreation Links page.

Swim Lessons
Allow your child to become comfortable in the water. The Recreation Department offers lessons for beginning, intermediate and advanced swimmers. Need more information? Aqua Babies
Congratulations on choosing to help your child become comfortable in the water. Parent and child aquatics lays the foundation for building future aquatic skills. Socializing, songs, and games make this a great experience. An adult is required to accompany each child in the water and participate in class.

Friday mornings gymnastics equipment will be set up at the 6th Street Gym and youth ages walking- 4 years are invited to drop in and play. An instructor will be on hand to facilitate some activities but there will also be free time. Parents must stay and play! There must be a minimum of 6 participants registered for the session for it to run, if 6 are registered we will also accept drop-in participants. 
Date: November 2 - December 14 (no class 11/23)
Time: 9:00 - 10:00am, Fridays
Location: 6th Street Gym
Cost: $30/6 classes or $6 drop-in
Age: walking - 4

Wee Sports 
Join us for this fun program designed to get youth ages 3-5 learning about sport skills in a fun environment. This 6-week session will teach participants basic skills focusing on soccer, basketball, t-ball, floor hockey, and other fun group games. Parents are required to stay and play to help facilitate all class activities.

Making Messes Is Fun
Join us for this fun new program, geared towards children ages 1-5. This program will meet weekly at the Huck Finn Ice Rink building to participate in a variety of messy activities using mud, paint, shaving cream and more. Parents must stay and play!

Play Group
Play Group is back at the 6th Street Gym, you can also check out their Facebook page HERE! Parents must stay and play and are encouraged to bring toys and games to share. For more information please call 719-486-7494.

Ages: 5 & under
Location: 6th Street Gym on cool or rainy days and Kiddie Corral on warm days.
