CERT organization

CERT = Community Emergency Response Team

This is a group of people who VOLUNTEER to help the
Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, and Search  & Rescue Department, when requested, with designated helpful duties per emergency incidents.

It is under the authority of the Sheriff's Department.
It is under the direction of the Search & Rescue Department.

What CERT will have in common is that our local leaders will be working to expand opportunities for their community members to engage in volunteer service that will support emergency preparation, prevention, and response.

ICS - Incident Command System:
This is the system used by fire and law enforcement agencies to manage emergency operations. When CERT activates from their neighborhood or workplace they become part of that system.

From this system, the CERT volunteer will be directed on what he or she will possibly be assisting with - examples:
    a. medical operations - assessment, triage, transport
    b. traffic - directing flow of traffic, maintaining
        accessibility to an area
    c. paperwork - it is very important to have documentation
on a disaster to be able to receive state or federal
        aid (monies), if needed
    d. phones - helping with communication to our
        community, giving direction, updating
        information
    e. assisting our fireman in a fire situation with meals,
        transportation, medical, traffic

The CERT classes consist of 17 ½ hours of training.
By receiving this training, we are helping our emergency systems obtain monies to effectively supply ourselves with equipment, education, training, websites and more.

Come join the team!!!
