Community Events

Enjoy spending time with your family and friends at one of the many special events hosted by the Lake County Recreation Department during the year. Each event offers an opportunity to be active in a fun environment. We can't wait to see you there!

Every other Friday we will kick off at the 6:00pm and folks can gather for lawn games, sports and picnics as well as specially themed activities before each FREE movie. Movies will begin at dusk, and titles will be announced as the dates draw closer, but mark your calendars for June 30th, July 14th, July 28th, August 11th, August 25th and September 8th!

Join us for this free challenge sponsored by the Colorado Rockies and CPRA. Youth ages 6-13 are invited to compete in hitting, base running and throwing to see who's got what it takes! First place boys and girls from each division will advance to sectionals and have the chance to compete in the state finals. For questions or more details please contact the Recreation Department.

Join us at the Lake County High School Track for a non-competitive track meet where kids can apply their new skills and celebrate their achievements. Events held will be the 100, 200, 400, long jump, triple jump, hurdles and shotput. Pre-registration is not required and can be done the day of the event.

Lifeguard Training ClassIMG_0792.JPG
This course will give you all the certifications necessary to become a professional lifeguard: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid. Certifications are good for two years.

The following skills must be performed BEFORE participants are allowed in the Lifeguard training class:
  • Swim 300 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs.
  • Retrieve a 10 pound brick in 12-foot deep water without assistance and without goggles.
