Youth Programs

The Lake County Recreation Department offers year-round sports, activities, and events for children and teens. These programs are designed to expose youth to a variety of recreational activities in a supervised and safe environment. Our focus is on teamwork, sportsmanship, skill development, self-esteem and most of all, having fun! For additional youth programs not sponsored by the Recreation Department, please see our Recreation Links page.

Help your child become comfortable in the water. The Recreation Department offers lessons for beginning, intermediate and advanced swimmers. Need more information? Not sure what level your child belongs in? Call 719-486-6986. 
 
Session 1: February 21 - March 15 (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
Session 2: April 10 - May 3 (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
Time: Swim Kids (ages 3-5) 4:35-4:45pm, Beginner (level1) 4:50-5:20pm, Intermediate (level 2/3) 5:25-5:55pm, Advanced (level 4+) 6-6:30pm
Cost: $45 ($30 for pass holders)

Give your kids the gift of music and movement! Our instructors will introduce participants to a wide variety of dance styles and techniques. The second session of the program will culminate in a recital for all participants.
 
Session 2: March 7 - April 25
Time: 5-6:00pm (age 4-7), 6-7:00pm (age 8-14) , Wednesdays
Cost Per Session: $50 (1 child), $90 (2 children) or $135 (3 Children)
(Children must be siblings to receive the multi child discount)

Youth Volleyballvolleyball 1.jpg
New this winter - youth volleyball! Join us on Monday ngihts to learn the fundamentals of volleyball. Perticipants will be divided intoa ge groups to work on passing, setting, serving, hitting and court positions through a variety of drills and games. Older participants may work on base/free ball as well as rotations depanding on skill level.
 
Dates: February 13 - April 2
Time: 4-5pm (ages 7-10) & 5-6pm (ages 11-14), Mondays

Once again the Lake County Recreation Department will be hosting the British Challenger Soccer Camp, During this week long camp your child will learn agility, balance, coordination, dribbling, passing/receiving, shooting, heading and more!
 
Dates: July 9-13
Sessions: Age 3 (9-10:00am), Ages 4-5 (10:30am-12:00pm), Ages 6-12 (9:00am-12:00pm), Ages 13-18 (1:00-4:00pm) and extra session for ages 6-12 from (1-3:00pm)
Cost: Age 3 - $78, Ages 4-5 $94, Ages 6-12 1/2 day $119 (extra afternoon session $48) and ages 13-18 $119

Child Play Group Parents Night Out 018.jpg
Get your child's energy out at the Sixth Street Gym! Children 5 and under are welcome but parents must stay and play. Balls, mats and equipment are provided.
 
Time: 10-11:30am, Wednesdays     
Cost: FREE    
Ages: 5 and under with accompanying parent       
Location: Kiddie Corral on warm days or The Sixth Street Gym on cool
or rainy days
