Senior Services Home Page

The Lake County Senior Center offers a variety of senior services, programming and volunteer opportunities as well as rental space for meetings and special events.
 
Services currently provided by the Senior Center include: 
 
                                                                                    
  • Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays at noon (suggested donation of $2 for ages 60+ OR $11.00 meal for all guests under the age of 60). Reservations should be made by 9:00am by calling Loretta at 719-486-1774. 
  • Breakfast served at the Senior Center:  3rd Thursday of the month from 8-9:00 a.m. 
  •  Next Breakfast:  January 17, 2019.  8-9.  $2
  • Transportation to and from doctor's appointments.  Monday - Fridays (by appointment only).  Call Judy for availability 719-486-1774.  We transport anywhere in Lake, Chaffee, Eagle & Summit Counties.
  • A food bank is available to all senior members of the community.  Open on Tuesday, Wednesday & Fridays from 9-11:30 A.M. 
  • Food commodities are available to qualifying seniors in Lake County.
Area Agency On Aging 
Janice Brunner the Senior Services Coordinator from the Area Agency on Aging (located in Salida) will now be visiting Leadville on an as needed basis to answer questions about AAA programs and services, and to assist in applying for & qualifying for services.  Click HERE for a list of programs.  Questions, contact Janice at 719-539-3341.

Activities and amenities currently provided by the Senior Center include:

  • Lunch & Learn SeriesThursday, January 10, 2019 at 12:00 at the Senior Center.  Next Topic:  Troy Vigil, CPA presents:  Tax Updates from the Trump Administration:    Suggested donation of $2.  Call for a lunch reservation.  486-1774.
  • Pool table & puzzles
  • Cable Television 
  • Trips to Blackhawk (monthy)  Next Trip:  Monday, January 14, 2019.  Bus leaves at 7:30 a.m.  Call Clo for more information and to reserve your seat:  719-486-1170.
  • Monthly Potluck:  the Senior Center provides the main dish.  Bring a little something or suggested $2 donation.  Next Potluck:  Thursday,  January 3, 2019 at noon.

The Senior Advisory Council meets quarterly and all are welcome!
Next meeting: February 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M.

Volunteers Needed: Consider using your time and talents to improve the quality of life for older adults and their families here in Lake County.  Opportunities include; Meals on Wheels delliveries,  becoming a Friendly Visitor, or volunteering for one of our numerous Senior Center activities.  As a volunteer, you can partner with us to provide a vital network of caring friendship and support to Senior Citizens living independently right here in your community. Contact us today to start making a difference 719-486-1774.
