About Us

The County Clerk and Recorder is elected by the citizenry of Lake County to serve statutorily as the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, and recorder of deeds. This office also serves as an agent for the Secretary of State of Colorado for voter registration and administration of elections. This office also handles motor vehicle titles, registrations, driver's license, liquor licenses, and sales taxes for the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Motor Vehicle Title and Registration

Many motor vehicle services are available online at mydmv.colorado.gov. Services available online include registration renewal, first time registration with title complete card, duplicate title request, registration fee estimator, duplicate registration request, personalized plate request, driver license or ID card renewal and much more!

Prefer to pay by check? License plate renewals can also be mailed to Lake County Clerk and Recorder, P.O. Box 917, Leadville, CO 80461 or dropped in the 24-hour drop box which is located at the front of the court house.
